Salmon tartare with strawberries and lime

5′ reading time

Salmon tartare is excellent as an appetizer or as a light snack. It gives a lot of energy, to a very low caloric intake.
Tartare is a preparation of finely chopped raw meat or fish, with a meat grinder or, better, with a knife. The name “tartare” derives from the legend according to which the Tartars, nomadic people originally from Central Asia, having no time to cook, placed the dried meat under the saddles of their horses to find it softened at the time of the meal.
Various versions of tartare exist in most regions of northern Italy, but it is mainly a Piedmontese dish.
In the recipe proposed here, the delicate flavor of salmon is combined with the sweetness of strawberries and the note of lime.
Salmon tartare with strawberries and lime is a quick and easy recipe, for unforgettable moments! A delight!!!

Ingredients (for 4 people)

  • 280 g of salmon
  • 180 g of strawberries
  • 1 lime
  • about 10 peppermint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons of E.V.O. Oil

  1. Take the salmon “tartare (you can find it already cut like this), or alternatively the slices of smoked salmon and cut them into very small pieces (like diced bacon, to be clear).
  2. With a grater, grate a bit of lime peel finely, and put it aside in a small cup
  3. Squeeze the lime and put the juice in another cup.
  4. Wash the strawberries well under plenty of running water, then cut them into small pieces. Let them rest for about 30 minutes.
  5. Wash and chop the peppermint (you can leave a few whole leaves for garnish).
  6. Add the strawberries and mint to the tartare, mix well and then add the lime juice.
  7. Let stand 15 minutes to mix all the flavors.
  8. With the help of a mold, serve flat and sprinkle with the lime zest. Eventually decorate with a couple of mint leaves.

Enjoy! 🙂 🙂
